Anna Geniushene, who is making a rare appearance in England, will be performing a solo piano recital at the Matthiesen Gallery next Friday 23 May. Anna last played this piano in May 2022 before heading off for Forth Worth, Texas, and winning a Silver Medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. In June 2023 Anna was chosen to replace Daniel Barenboim when he was unable because of ill health to perform at Zürich’s magnificent Tonhalle concert hall. The Matthiesen Gallery is tiny in comparison but its ambiance is worthy a world-class pianist performing some of her favourite transcriptions.
