Malaysian pianist Bridget Yee received a full scholarship to Wells Cathedral
School at the age of 11 and a Fellowship Diploma from Trinity College London
at 17. She is currently in her second year of undergraduate studies at the Royal
Academy of Music with a Suresh and Richard McMillan Full Scholarship under
Christopher Elton. In 2020 she was a keyboard finalist in the BBC Young Musician competition. Bridget has recently been made Polonsky Foundation Fellow for this year’s Aspen Music Festival and School in Aspen, Colorado.
Most recently she was awarded the Kerr Memorial prize by the Royal Overseas
League. In 2025 the Cologne based public radio broadcaster, Deutschlandfunk,
will record a duo concerto especially written for her.
Joanna is a passionate performer who grew up in Staffordshire where she
began piano lessons at the age of eight. Since then, her playing has taken her
to Chetham’s Manchester, to King’s College London, where she won the Purcell
prize for the highest mark in the degree, and to the Guildhall School of Music
and Drama where she is currently studying on a scholarship. A regular soloist,
Joanna has won many prizes at UK and overseas music festivals and is an
Essex Young Musician of the Year medallist. Her Orelia Trio has been selected
by the Royal Overseas League and will be performing in France and Canada
this year. In February 2024 Joanna was chosen to play for Le Foyer des Artistes
Concerto Award at St Columb’s Hall, Derry, N. Ireland.
Bridget and Joanna were 1st and 2nd prize winners of the Appelbe Piano Prize
at the North London Festival of Music, Speech and Drama 2023, sponsored by
Felix Appelbe, a long-time supporter of talented young pianists at the start of
their careers.
