Young Musicians Sponsorship

The Foundation continues to be pre-eminently involved with the sponsorship of young musicians. During the year it has sponsored Elisabeth Pion, pianist, the Philomel Academy which performed at the Matthiesen Gallery, Varvara Tarasova, pianist. We also sponsored masterclasses for Dominika Mak to attend the summer school in Poitier with Anne Queffélec. Ms Mak will be performing at the Matthiesen Gallery on the 6th of November 2024. We continued our support for young emerging artists at Opera Holland Park. We further made small grants to Bampton Classical Opera.
Small grants were made to TReeS, Peru, Children with Cancer, The Lennox Children Cancer Fund, the International Otter Survival Fund, The Gurkha Welfare Trust, St Mungo’s, The Christian Blind Mission, The Glacier Trust, The Hands Up Foundation, Listening Books and the Guide Dogs Charity.
The Foundation contributed £1000 towards a scholarship for a Ukrainian student at Oriel College Oxford University. The Foundation also paid for 50% of the fee due to Polina Osetinskaya, the renowned Russian pianist, for a memorable recital at the National Gallery London. In addition, the Foundation solicited funds from the Orbis Pictus Foundation and received a grant of $10,000 which it forwarded to ANIA Peru for an expansion of ‘The Children’s Forest’ programme, this time in Costa Rica, where three individual projects were started, two in conjunction with the University of Costa Rica in Nicoya and the third at a private school in Liberia. These three projects were subsequently inspected in 2024 by the Directors of the Foundation.
The Foundation continues to sponsor monthly concerts for young emerging artists in the Matthiesen Gallery, which are managed by Mrs Mary Orr.
